January 2024 School Counselor Newsletter

Dear St. John Families,

Happy New Year! I’m so excited to be back at St. John following a wonderful maternity leave with my baby boy and husband.

Now that I’m back at school, I’m eager to begin a new session of Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) groups! Groups focus on a variety of SEL skills, including emotional regulation and coping skills, friendship and social skills, and executive functioning skills such as self-control, flexible thinking, and focus strategies. Groups are formed with 4-6 same-grade peers and meet weekly for 30 minutes during the school day for 10 weeks.

This is the last call to sign up for the winter session of groups. Please fill out this online form by Monday, January 8th if you would like your child to participate in a group.

As always, feel free to email me at cshaw@st-johnschool.org. I look forward to reconnecting with you!

Ms. Shaw
